Instead of the general maintenace tasks provided by the Maintenance Wizard, it is preferred to schedule certain tasks, like running ScanDisk, to take place at specific times on specific days. In this case anyone can use the Scheduled Tasks faciflity instead or in addition to the Maintenance Wizard.
Scheduled Tasks is similar to the Mainteance Wizard, except that it allows to specify exactly what programs are to be run at exactly what time. The tool starts automatically, each time when you starts Windows and runs in the background, waiting for the scheduled time. If it is inconvenient when the task starts to run, cancel it.

- Select Express in the dialogue box that appears to use the most common maintenance settings.
- Click Next.
- In the following window, select the time you'd like the maintenance to take place at, likely between 12 an 3 am.
- Clcik Finish.

Its is a good idea to check the site on a regular basis to make sure that there are no critical updates which are missed out on. Also check the site after installing a new piece of hardware to make sure that the latest and most appropriate drivers are available.

- Computer will now be scanned (No information will be collected ) and the site will display a suggested list of products enhancements. Choose which among them to download.

Errors tend to happen as a matter of course. Windows 98's ScanDisk utility checks the hard drive for errors then repairs its damaged areas. Run ScanDisk if there is any problem to save files. ScanDisk runs atutomatically if the PC is shut down without exiting Windows properly.

Defragmentation
